Next week we were in Carefree, Arizona. For days rain had been forecast for the weekend. Friday was beautiful and despite a dire forecast for Saturday it rained just a little and we did well. The tv weather monkeys with thier forecasts of doom for Sunday panicked a group of artists who somehow convinced a good, experienced promoter into canceling the show on Sunday.
For the most part artists are a tough bunch who overcome every imaginable obstacle to bring you their work. The behavior of some of the artists at this show was just plain wimpy. In almost 40 years of doing shows I've never seen anything like it.
Sunday turned out to be just fine, cloudy and a little cool with a few sprinkles. The show should have gone on. We spent Sunday morning at an outdoor cafe at the show site drinking coffee and visiting with old friends. That week we headed south photographing cactus and hillsides of wild poppies.
